After three years I finally have my sites up! Thanks Nicky! Everyone please take a look at my sites…www.visitchicagotoday.com or www.visitacitytoday.com or pick one of about 50 other cities. Lets see if they make any money now. Ok, part two… I’ve lost a few pounds and people are beginning to notice which is a good thing. What’s really interesting is I’ve pretty much only did one thing to lose the weight. I’ve stopped drinking Coke. My “habit” had gone as far as 8-10 cokes a day at its peak. It’s been 4 weeks and I’ve definitely noticed a difference. I’ve gone down about 4 notches on my belt. I’m walking faster and generally feel better. I had about a weeks worth of headaches in the beginning. The withdrawal took a bit of effort. I still crave it but I made a commitment in the beginning of the year to make this a special year and I hope I’m on the right track. After 30 years of drinking large amounts of soda I’ve got to think it does quite a bit of damage to the body. But I’ve always known I’m a sweet guy!
A few thoughts on Killer Whale
I don’t know are they that stupid? If its called a “Killer Whale” and you dress like a seal, why would you even get close? They are only nice to you because their held captive by you and are relying on you to feed them. At some point you have to figure the whale is thinking I need more than the fish they give me? I need some seal meat! Oh there’s one now!
I’ve always wanted to try the Luge at the olympics. But 90 miles an hour I’m pretty sure its really not a safe thing. Lets see… sharp blades, solid ice, fast speed, yep that spells danger Will Robinson!
Do you ever feel your getting to the point where its system overload! To much information. I mean literally. I’m on the web all day, I get 100 or more emails every day. I have to do research every day. The tv has an abundance of information at our finger tips by just pushing the button. I am starting to say lets disconnect but you cant! At what point will we overload? When will the smoke start coming out of my ears? I’ve got to be close. Someone tell the voices in my head to be quiet ok!
Goodbye 2009!
I can’t say that I’ll miss 2009. It wasn’t the greates of years for me and the family. But it wasn’t the worse either. Despite the economy I still have a job which I’m quite thankful for and I am looking forward to a challenging 2010. Chicago’s convention business looks glum so were going to have to push hard to make up the difference.
I am excited about my new site at www.alltop.com/earl it will be great to be informed from all my favorite sites on a daily basis. So my New Years Resolutions 1. To get down to 220 pounds. 2. Be more patient (I always want things to happen fast). 3. To get my domains up and running. 4. Continue to be a creative genius that I think I am! And last but not least 5. Make something Life Changing happen this year!
Those are pretty good goals I think. So all my friends help me keep on track and I also wish you all a great new year too.
My Son The Employee of the Year!
My oldest son EJ just informed me that he was named employee of the year at the company he works at. Now this is the son that I worried about when he was growing up. As I have said before we as parents are always concerned about how your kids will turn out. As a parent you do not want to “let go” you want to be involved in your kids life and at the same time their trying to get away from you. They don’t want you controlling their life. They want to be on their own and they want to live their life not yours. Thats a struggle that all parents go through until your comfortable enough to realize that their ok and they know what their doing. Its a great feeling and I couldn’t be prouder of EJ that he’s got his act together. He’s also got someone in his life who I’ve only met once. Her name is Hillary and I think she has had a good impact on him! I hope I have the oportunity to get to know her better.
Good job my son.
My Opinion about Chicago's McCormick Place
Ok I’m fed up now! There once was a time and a place for unions but McCormick Place just isn’t it. The unions have forced major conventions to leave town and will end up hurting an industry that is already down due to the economy. First it was the Hardware Show, then the Consumer Electronics Show, now the Plastics Show and their 90,000 people every other year for a week! Now even Oprah is leaving Chicago! This is going to cost a lot of jobs in Chicago and the government, I don’t think is going to bail us out! I’m referring to the Hospitality industry of which I’ve been a part of for over 30 some odd years! This is going to go bad, as too many people have been making too much money from McCormick Place for years. You think they are going to let go? The politicians that get alot of support (in more ways than just a vote) from the unions aren’t going to change either. No were probably going to have to hit rock bottom. You know what that means… we will lose more conventions more hotels will go belly up. You might even see boarded up buildings (former hotels) anytime now. Its time to wake up Mayor Daley and a few people need to slapped up side of their head and hard.
